Obituary

Jimmy Scott White, Vincent, Ohio departed this life April 18, 2016, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born April 6, 1939, to Christopher Hasting White and Opal Floriene (Greuey) on the Greuey Farm near Cutler, Ohio. He is survived by son Timothy of Columbus; Daughter-in-law Kim (Gildow) White; Grandson Dylan White;Granddaughter Sarah Beth While; Great Grandsons Riley and Landon; and great Granddaughter Alexis all of Wilmington, NC.;sister, Jo Ann White Ingram; nephews- Jeff(Carol); Jim (Courtney); great niece Haley Ingram; great nephews Connor, Alex, and Marcus Ingram, Wilma Joanne White Benedict- the mother of his sons and by Pam Looney his Companion. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Bradley Scott and brother-in-law Jack G. Ingram as well as his grandparents Earl and Catherine White and Ernest and Alice Greuey. Scott graduated from Bartlett High School, where he set county records for high school basketball scoring and also enjoyed playing baseball on local area teams. He and two high school friends enlisted the U. S. Marine Corps following their high school graduation, serving in the Marine Corps Engineering Division in Puerto Rico, earning Honorable Discharges. He worked for Marbon/Borg Warner/ GE plastics for 30 plus years, retiring the effluent division. Upon retirement, he resumed farming with his father and continued to follow his Quarter Horses as they performed across the U S. Scott and his dog Jerry Lee, a German Shepherd, and later Buster his Australian cattle dog, whom he inherited from his father, were well known traveling companions throughtout the Mid-Ohio Valley. The two dogs had favorite restaurants they liked to visit while traveling with Scott. He was an avid sports fan; especially enjoying stock car racing, plus high school, college, and major league events; depending upon the season to to determine which game or event he favored. Friends may call at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill, O. Friday April 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sat. April23 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sat.April 23, 16 Burial wil be in the Bartlett Cemetery Baerlett, O. Where military rites will be observed.
