John F. Davis 88, of 43 N. 9th Street McConnelsville passed away at 7 p.m. January 4, 2011 at his home. He was born Dec 12, 1922 in Sharpsburg son of the late Hugh Fletcher Davis and Gladys Brawley Davis. He served in the U.S. Army from August 1942 until Oct. of 1945.He married Joyce E. Otis Sept. 1952, and was employed at Jeffers Manufacturing Co until it closed, he later worked for the city of Columbus until he retired in 1987.He and his wife moved to McConnelsville and resided there until his wife's death in 2008. He the moved to the McConnell Manor.He is survived by one brother Richard (Frances) Davis of Rokeby Lock and one sister Shelby J. Work of McConnelsville. In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by brothers Hugh, Bernard, Wayne , and Ronald Davis. At his reqest a cremation will take place . Memorial Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday ,Jan. 22, 2011 at the Malta Cemetery with Paster Galen Finley officiating.
