Obituary

John L. McGrath, 76, of 7701 St. Rt. 78, McConnelsville, passed away at 4:18 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at his home, with his family and friends close by.

He was born July 21, 1935 in Olive Green, OH, a son of the late Richard and Mary Brownrigg McGrath.

He retired from Central Ohio Coal Co. and was a member of the NWTF, and a member of Operating Engineers Local No.18.

He is survived by his widow, Carolyn Lehman McGrath, whom he married December 23, 1960; two daughters, Candy White of Reinersville and Sherri (Bob Landman) McGrath of Lamont Furnace, PA; one son, John McGrath Jr. of Newark, OH; six grandchildren, T.J. Shuster, Jeff White, and John, Kate, Sidney, and Thomas McGrath; two great-grandchildren, Ella and Maisy White; one sister, Bonnie Johnston of Logan; and one brother, Steve (Roberta) McGrath of Hemlock.

He is also survived by close friends, Cash Jewell and Billie Clark; and special granddaughters, Antika and Shelby Clark; and his loving dog, Sadie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, William, James, Robert, and Theodore McGrath.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, with Pastor Galen Finley officiating.

Burial will follow in the Reinersville Cemetery.
