John T. Mix, 85, 8137 West Sharps Ridge Rd., McConnelsville, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the home of Kurt and Marlys Barbee.

He was born June 23, 1924, in Butler, a son of the late Glenn J. and Mary L. Thompson Mix.

Mr. Mix was a millwright and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II and the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Gun Owners of America.

He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Ellen Mix of Newark; a son, Stephen Craig Mix of McConnelsville; one grandchild, Francine Mix of Los Angeles, CA; and two sisters, Marge Smith and Mrs. William Heckleman, both of Newark

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Beth Faller; and a brother, Robert Mix.

At Mr. Mix's request, a caring cremation will take place. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church near Malta with Thomas Miller and Raymond Barkman officiating.

Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville was in charge of arrangements.
