John E. (Herbie) Payne, 51, of Crooksville, died on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 at his residence. He was born on Dec. 24, 1963 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Charles and Charlotte Evans Payne. He worked for the Zanesville Farm and Feed Supply as well as many area farms. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Chevalier Payne of the home, 1 son, Bobby (Tiffany) Payne of Crooksville, 1 daughter, Ashley (Chris) Hogsett of McConnelsville, 2 brothers, William Payne of McConnelsville and Charles Payne of Zanesville, 2 sisters, Pat Cain of Malta and Charlotte Dickerson of McConnelsville and 5 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Anna Payne and Betty Wiseman. Services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with the burial following at the Virginia Ridge Cemetery near Philo. Friends may call on the family from 11-1 P.M. on the day of the funeral.
