John Weiss, 72, of Chesterhill, OH, passed away at his home on August 2, 2016. John was preceded by his son, Michael John Weiss, his brother, Thomas Weiss, his parents, Ernestine and William Weiss, his niece, Kristin Weiss, and his nephew, Michael Regan. John was well known in the outdoor writing, editing, and photography fields. He published more than two-dozen books and thousands of magazine articles. Modest about his life achievements, John will be remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit and sense of humor, and for his love of the land. A celebration of his life will be held at the family farm, 3589 W. Goshen Run Rd., from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made in his name to the Chesterhill, OH Volunteer Fire Department, 1455 Coal St., Chesterhill, OH, 43728. Final arrangements were handled by Stone-Matheney Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at matheneyfh.com.
