Joseph Sheridan "Joe" Elliott , 77 of McConnelsville, formerly of Stockport, died at 4:32 a.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville. He was born July 26, 1940 at the Elliott family home located between Reinersville and Woodgrove in Manchester Township, Morgan County, Ohio the third child of Finely Orvill and Olive Grace Rohrbough Elliott. He grew up in the family home at Morganville, and was educated in the schools in Union Township, attending and graduating from the eighth grade at Ringgold Elementary, and going on to high school at Homer-Union. School consolidation had taken place in Morgan County at that time, with Homer -Union closed, Joe transferred to M&M High School and graduated with the class of 1959. Joe was baptized and was a Baptist by faith. He loved the outdoors and especially loved to hunt squirrels, groundhogs, rabbits, grouse, turtles, raccoons, or whatever happened to be in the sites of his gun. His childhood hunting buddy, Johnny Clay, preceded him in death. Joe worked for over 30 years for the Malta Manufacturing Company, making windows and patio doors. He had a dry sense of humor, a ready smile, and made many friends among his years at Malta. Surviving are his daughter, Melissa "Missy" Elliott Wogan of Malta; his son, Michael "Mike" Elliott of McConnelsville; two grandsons, Matthew Dille and Aaron Clawson; his sister, Sara Lee Elliott Hurst of McConnelsville; three nephews , Matt Hurst of Plain City, Mitch Hurst of Springfield, and Mason Hurst of Powell; 17 cousins; numerous friends, including his poker buddies. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Barbara Ellen Elliott; brother in law, Lou Hurst; and the mother of his children, Charlene Spencer Zumbro. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday.
