Josephine M. Lyons, 98, of the Beckett House in New Concord and formerly of Zanesville, passed away Wednesday August 24,2011 at 10:35 p.m. at the nursing home. She was born March 25, 1913 in Morgan County to the late C. Monroe Pierce and Grace Parsons Pierce.
She was retired from Muskingum College where she had worked in the dietary department. Josephine was a member of the Woodlawn Church Of Christ in Zanesville and had been a member of the former Church Of Christ on Sunday Creek in Morgan County. She was also a member of the Golden 60s.
She is survived by two daughters, Eva (Everett) Gordon of Zanesville and Dorothy (Lonnie) Stephen of Cumberland; a son, Bill (Jeanine) St. Clair of Chandlersville; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren; a special friend, Esther Browning of New Concord; a sister, Pauline Potts of Zanesville; a brother, Dale (Betty) Pirece of Malta. In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband, Ellis Lyons; three sisters, Delphia Hampton, Helen Potts, and Dora Fracker; a brother, Wilbert Pierce.
Calling hours will be Friday August 26, 2011 from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where funeral services will be held Saturday August 27,2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Phil Walker officiating.
