Karissa Lynn Hogan, age 50, of Canton departed this life, at home with her family, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. She was born on February 15, 1974, in Canton, Ohio to the union of Edward and Mary (Carnes) Smith. Kris grew up in Canton, Ohio. She attended Greater Bethel Apostolic Church from a young age and was baptized in Jesus' name. Kris began her education at Heritage Christian School and graduated from Canton South High School in 1992. Kris earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampton University in 1996. After college, she moved to Dayton, Ohio. There, she worked for Ameritech until she could no longer work due to her illness.  Kris loved life, but she loved nothing more than her children. She had a kind heart and would help anyone that was in need. Kris had a big, outgoing personality, and she made friends wherever she went. For those that knew her well, Kris could be sassy and was not shy about telling you what she thought. She loved to laugh, and she left us all with memories and stories that bring a smile. Kris was a loving mother, sister, daughter and a true friend.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Naomi Smith and Leonard and Iva Carnes.  Kris will always be missed and her memories cherished by her family, especially her children, Kiersten Hogan and Alan Hubbard-Wray; her parents, Edward and Mary Smith; sister, Kara (Simon) McCune; nephew, Simon McCune II; a special cousin, Shelly Watiker and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 at 12pm at Greater Bethel Apostolic Church (2335 15th St SW, Canton, OH 44706). There will be one hour of calling hours at the church on Monday from 11am to 12pm. Stone-Matheney Funeral Home will assist in a private burial at the Chesterhill Cemetery in Chesterhill, OH.
