Lois "Teener" Bowman passed peacefully in her sleep on January 18, 2017 at Highland Oaks in McConnelsville, Ohio. Lois had battled many health issues in her last years. Her family is extremely grateful for the compassionate care the staff of Highland Oaks gave her during those years and also the Hospice staff during her final days. Born in Glouster, Ohio to John and Doris Heavener Legg on March 23, 1927, Teener led an exciting life as a participant in "the greatest generation". After graduating from Chauncey Dover High School she volunteered in a war factory. After the war she married a returning soldier, Dow Arthur Bowman on June 11, 1946. They resided in Dow's hometown of Chesterhill, Ohio. Dow was a successful oil and gas contractor in Ohio. Teener handled the bookkeeping, payroll and the four children they raised. Teener was preceded in death by both her father and mother, John and Doris Legg, one brother, Carl Legg, one sister, Shirley Bowman and son-in-law, Chuck Brown. She is survived by two sons and spouses, Glenn and Sarah Bowman of Katy, Texas, Dow and Connie Bowman of Pensacola, Florida; two daughters and spouses, Chantelle Bowman and John Wimberly of Dahlonega, Georgia, and Jim and Lorna Eppley of Rokeby Lock, Ohio; 11 grandchildren,5 step grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren. She was also blessed with many special nieces and nephews and their families. Teener lived a long fulfilling life and her faith in Jesus Christ gave her strength and joy. Calling hours will be, 10-12 Monday, January 23 at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill, Ohio with funeral service and graveside service immediately following.
