Lois J. Simmons, 88, of Nelsonville formerly of Chesterhill, passed away Mon. Aug.18, 2025 at her residence.  She was born Nov. 9, 1936 to the late Marion and Thelma Scott Walker in Strabane, PA. She worked as a cook at Marion Elementary in Chesterhill and South Elementary. She was a member of Liberty United Brethren Church, was an avid bowler, loved bingo and softball.  She is survived by a son, Charles Simmons of Nelsonville; 2 daughters, Lori (David) Crawford of Mancos, CO, and Leah (Phillip) Tome of Castlerock, CO; brother, Buck Walker of Wheelersburg, OH; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John A. Simmons; son, John Jr.; daughter, Lona King; 2 granddaughters, Kelsey Tome and Penny Tope; and grandson, Eric Simmons. Funeral service will be Fri. Aug. 22, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill, with Pastor David Jarvis officiating. Friends may call on the family, Thur.
