Luther Nelson Mayle Sr., 68, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side.  He was born on Dec. 9, 1951 in Columbus to the late William Luther Mayle and Carma Kennedy Mayle.  He is survived by his wife of 43 yrs. Joyce "Peeper" Male Mayle of the home, 3 sons, Luther Nelson Mayle Jr. of Amesville, Brian Mayle of Chesterhill and Shane Stacy of Athens, 3 daughters, Teresa Mayle of Parkersburg, Carrie Tabler of Amesville and Heather Hill of Athens, 1 brother, Lawrence "Barney" Mayle of Amesville, 2 half-brothers, James Kennedy and Jason Mayle both of Columbus, 2 sisters, Joann Mayle of Amesville and Elizabeth Mays of Columbus, 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a son William Mayle, sister Loretta Stacy, a half-sister, Yolanda Shaw and a great granddaughter, Noel.  A visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 2, 2020 from 6-8 P.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
