Obituary

Marian Rae (Pickering) Wogan, 82, of Bartlett, Ohio, died May 29, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family.  She was born November 24, 1942, to Hazel Juanita (Brown) and Ray Cecil Pickering.  She attended Bartlett High School and continued to enjoy annual alumni dinners and meeting her former friends from high school for lunch at the Redwood Diner. She and the late John Dale Wogan were married in September of 1959 and had three children. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter Laura Jean; sisters Norma Jean Anderson and Doris Jean Trego and brothers Guy Orland Roberts and Milton Roy Roberts. Surviving are two daughters, Marian Victoria Wogan and Mary Joanna Coe Pryor; two grandsons, William Kelcey Coe, and John Kyle (Stacey) Coe; and sisters Dora Mae Nowell and Ruth Anne Tatman; and brothers David Brent Roberts, Robert Roberts and Sonny Carpenter. She owned and operated the Bartlett Restaurant for six years. She was known as an incredible cook and for mentoring others in preparing dishes including stromboli and noodles.  She was also gifted at gardening, canning, baking, crafting, quilting, crocheting, and woodworking. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and stuffed animals. She was an avid traveler and visited Great Britain twice and Europe once, as well as two memorable trips to Paduka, Kentucky for the annual quilt show  Other favorite trips included Niagara Falls, a cruise to the Bahamas, and multiple trips to Amish Country and Disney World. She had a special relationship with Judy Lauer; nieces Vickie Lynn Hitchcock, Darlene Caldwell, Tracy Smathers Boyer, and Dr Tiffany Downs; and nephews Roy, Billy, Brian and Vince Roberts, as well as sisters-in-law Candy Roberts, Eileen Wells, Joy Roberts, and Janice Allen Wogan (deceased) and her best friend Anna Marie Camp of Crown City, Ohio.  She also loved and enjoyed visiting and going to family gatherings including picnics, cookouts, holiday get-togethers with the Nowells, Browns, Roberts', Wogans and Wells'. Special relationships also included her caregivers Jamie Mayle, Gayle King, Randa Secoy, and former caregivers including Amy, Angie, Laura, Erin, Amanda, Sally, Cassie, Christina, and Raqueal. A Memorial will be held Saturday, July 26, starting at 1 p.m. at the Wesley Township Volunteer Fire Department (Bartlett).  Please bring your stories.  We will have noodles and stromboli! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marian Wogan's name to the Wesley Township Volunteer Fire Department.
