Obituary

Marjorie E. Niceswanger, 90, of McConnelsville, passed away at 7:29 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.

She was born August 18, 1922, in Morgan County, the daughter of the late Carlos Mendenhall and Jessie Ray Mendenhall.

Mrs. Niceswanger graduated from Marion High School in Chesterhill and Marietta Business Institute in Marietta. She worked at Rankin & Rankin in Zanesville, Huffman Transport Co. in Athens, taught school for two years at Chesterhill School, and also worked for the ASC of Morgan County. She was a member of Fairview and Pennsville Grange for 73 years, a charter member of the Morgan County PERS, and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in McConnelsville. She retired as Chief Deputy of Morgan County Probate Court after 23 years of service.

She is survived by two sons J.D. (Charlotte) Niceswanger of Galena, and Jan (Martha) Niceswanger of Newark; five grandchildren, Heather Schott, Tim, Dan, Aaron, and Eliot Niceswanger; four great-grandchildren; one niece; and dear friends, Vicki and Terry Best of Belpre.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm (Pete) Niceswanger, who died in 1963; one brother, Ray Mendenhall; and dear friend, Gene Bragg.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, with Pastor Walter Jones officiating.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband in McConneslville Cemetery.
