Marjorie Lois Ponchak, 83, of McConnelsville, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at 5:10 a.m. at the Genesis Health and Rehab Center in McConnelsville. She was born on July 2, 1926 in Malta Ohio to the Late Joseph M. and Grace Salzer Gessel. She was a housewife and a member of the old Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, a three time past Matron of old Reinersville chapter of Order of Eastern Star #397 where she served on several Grand Chapter Committees and is now a member of Valley Order of Eastern Star #19 in McConnelsville and just received her fifty year pin. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. She is survived by one son, Charles R. and Debbie Ponchak of Montrose Co., two daughters, Sondra J and David Weaver of Cumberland, and Brenda and Larry Carrel of McConnelsville, one brother, Robert Gessel of McConnelsville, one sister, Dorothy Johnson of McConnelsville, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren, and four great great step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles W. Ponchak, and a brother Joseph M. Gessel. Services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial following in the McConnelsville Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
