View a Video Memorial Martha M. Bench, 94, embraced her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 29, 2014. Martha was born May 3, 1920 in Pleasant City, Ohio. She, along with her sister, was raised at the Ohio Masonic Home for children in Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from Springfield High School. Upon graduating and leaving the home, she was married to William M. Bench, her husband of 51 years. Martha was employed as a dental assistant, a seamstress for the service, and had also worked at the Bloomer Candy factory in Cambridge. She was a member of the Eastern Star, WSCS, and Historical Society. Martha was also a member of the Reinersville United Methodist Church for 59 years, where she taught a Sunday school class. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, and infant daughter, a daughter, Dovalene Dolan, a sister, Countess Phillis and a great grandson Gregory Westfall. Surviving Martha are a daughter, Cathy and Richard Oney of McConnelsville, three grandchildren, Rich and Margie Oney of South Vienna, Rob and Darlene Oney of Malta and Angela and Kevin Westfall of Crooksville, two great grandchildren, Nathanael and Hannah Westfall of Crooksville. Martha wanted to be remembered for her love of God and her love of family and friends. The family asks that in Lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Reinersville United Methodist Church or Genesis Hospice. Services will be held on Friday, Jan 2, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Reinersville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Reinersville Cemetery. Friends may call on the family on Thursday, January 1, 2015 from 3-6 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville.
