Martha A. Oakes, 78, of McConnelsville, formerly of Buckeye Lake, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at the Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.

She was born June 6, 1937, in New Lexington, to the late Russell Scott and Edna Yarger Scott.

Martha was a retired licensed social worker for Licking County L.E.A.D.S. and was a Lutheran by faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Tina Johnson of Malta and Nina Lambert of Sandusky; six special grandchildren, Dakota, Robby, Jason, Joe, Gabby, and Paul; eight additional grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a nephew, Russell Farley of Malta; and a niece, Diana Farley Castle of Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Oakes; two sons, Edward Martin Lambert and an infant son; a daughter, Rita Marie Scott; and two sisters, Rita Farley and Alice Scott.

Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
