Mary L. Gheen 85, of 1890 Bailey Ridge Road, Malta, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Riverside Landing Care Center near McConnelsville.

She was born January 20, 1928 in Marietta, a daughter of the late James C. Lawerence and Olive Best.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by four daughters, Bonnie (David) Matson of Stockport, Linda Wells of Stockport, Ruth (Harold) Palmer of Radcliff, KY, and Donna Dixon of Stockport; three sons, Richard Buck (Joni) Gheen of McConnelsville, Raymond (Bea) Gheen of McConnelsville, and Michael Gheen of Malta; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie Jean Simons of Ripley, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Gheen, who died March 2, 2003; two sons, Carlos Richard Gheen and James Clinton Gheen; one great-grandson, Jayson Matson; a son-in-law, Jerry Wells; and one sister, Beulah Lawerence.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in Malta Bible Church in Malta, with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery near Stockport.
