Maxine (Handschumacher) Alcock, 93 of McConnelsville, passed away September 8, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born May 28, 1926 in Monroe County, Ohio a daughter of the late Everett and Chloris Newhart Handschumaker. She married Marion Shorty Alcock on June 12, 1951 and they raised their two daughters, Barbara Joellen Gessel and Shauna Ann Ford. She worked for many years at City Loan in McConnelsville, and was a member of Mother's Club and the Eastern Star in McConnelsville. She is survived by her daughter, Shauna Ann Ford of Stockport; sisters, Virginia Shafer and Sue (Calvin) Wagner both of Marietta; five grandchildren, Chad (Linda) Ford, Kaci (Jeremy) Drobina, Lori Shuster (Tom), Suellen (Curt) Coleman and John J.T. Gessel; eight great grandchildren, Andrew, Rogan, Elliott, Khloe, Emilee, Kody, Caiden and Anna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shorty who died in 2002; daughter, Joellen; and brothers, Charles Handschumaker and Robert Handschumaker. Friends may call 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where services will be held at 2:00p.m. with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. She will be laid to rest in McConnelsville cemetery beside her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to the M&M Fire Dept, EMS 77 S. 4th Street McConnelsville, Ohio 43756.
