Mert R. Edwards, 73 of Chesterhill, died on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 7:23 P.M. at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on April 11, 1938 in Cutler, Ohio to the late Isaac and Lilly Goins Dalton. She was a homemaker and babysat for all the neighborhood kids who all loved her and her husband Allen. She was a Baptist by faith. She is survived by two daughters, Heather (Tracy) Copeland of Stockport, and Heidi (James) Smith of Chesterhill, one step-son, Stephen M. Hardin of Canton, two brothers, Harold "Bub" Dalton of Chesterhill and Bill Dalton of Zanesville, one sister, Marie Mayle of Zanesville and six grandchildren, Cameron, Ronnie, Olivia, Gabriel, Carson and Kyleah. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Allen Edwards, one daughter, Michelle, two brothers, James and Wilbert "Tojo" Dalton, and one sister, Madge Jones. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor Charles Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesterhill Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 10-12 on the day of the funeral.
