IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred "Middy"
Mayle
October 22, 1927 – June 2, 2023
Mildred (Middie) Mayle of Zanesville, Ohio, daughter of the late Raymond Joe and Ruetta Harris Parsons, was born in Bebee, Ohio, Athens County, October 22, 1927, and departed this life at The Oaks at Bethesda on June 2, 2023, at the age of 95 years, 7 months, and 10 days. Mildred suffered from a variety of illnesses for several years, but despite her pain, she was always concerned with the well-being of others. Her prayer each night was "God, if I have done anything to offend anyone, please forgive me, and let my family and friends know that I love them all." Mildred spent most of her life as a homemaker but worked at J.C. Penney's after her children were grown. She loved to cook, sew, and sing. Family and friends will always remember her homemade bread, homemade cinnamon rolls, and pies. She was an excellent seamstress making many of her daughters' clothes, including dresses for special occasions. She also loved making quilts. Singing, however, was her passion. She knew the words to almost any old-time gospel song that someone could name. When she became unable to attend church on Sunday mornings, she held her own praise and worship service by listening to Southern gospel on her Google and singing along. She attended the Carey Street Mission Church along with her husband and later attended Wings of Hope Tabernacle. She was a strong woman of faith and definitely modeled the Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Mildred was united in marriage to the late Nathan (Boozer) Mayle on November 16, 1943. They were inseparable. If you saw one of them, the other one was close by. They definitely served as great role models for the rest of the family. Neither of them ever met a stranger and both shared the gift of hospitality and love for their fellow man. If you were at their house close to meal time, there is no way you could leave without a full stomach and a lot of good conversation. Left to cherish her memory are her children Larry (Jeanie) Mayle, Connie (Terry) Martin, and son-in-law Garry Male; nine grandchildren - Amanda Mayle; Mark (Renee), Aaron (Nicole), Nathan (Ashley), Shala Chandler, and Ryan (Lauren) Male; Shane (Sheila), Seth (Mandy), and Nick (Sarah) Martin; 16 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; her sister Lela Butcher; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Male; two infants - Nathan, Jr. and Peggy; sisters Clerina (Pete) Harris, Wanda (Conrad) Hill, Emma (Romanus) Mayle, and Ada (Don) Croston. The family would like to thank Hospice and the staff at The Oaks at Bethesda for the kind and loving care given to their mother and grandmother. Services will be held on Fri, June 9, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at the Wings of Hope Tabernacle Church on Lee Street, Zanesville. Friends may call on the family from 10-12 P.M. on the day of the services. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery near Amesville following the church services. To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
