View a Video Memorial Nora Boughner Gates Dietz, 89, of McConnelsville, died on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at the Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville. She was born on Dec. 17, 1924 in Cameron, Ohio to the late Stephen and Mary Jane Van Ness Boughner. She worked as an LPN in her early years and retired from Gould in McConnelsville. She graduated from Beallsville High School and attended the Beverly Presbyterian Church. She was a key member and helped build the foundation of the Morgan County Republican Women's Club, member of the American Legion Post #24 Ladies Aux in McConnelsville, OES, the Red Hat Society in Morgan, Washington Counties as well as in Florida and was active in many sowing and quilting clubs. She is survived by 2 sons, Willard Gates of Greenfield, In and Robert (Esther) Gates of Zanesville, 2 daughters, Linda (Mark) Mosier of McConnelsville and Diana (Walter MD) Fritz of Knox, In, 1 step-daughter in law, Monica Dietz of Beverly, 2 sisters, Deloris Dixson of Powhatten, Oh and Norma Carpenter of Barnesville, Oh, 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, Clarence Gates, 2nd husband Paul Dietz 2 brothers, Harley and Harold Boughner and 2 sisters, Doris Smith and Amelia Henthorne. Services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with pastor Tom O'Connor officiating. Burial will follow in the McConnelsville Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 1-3 P.M. on the day of the funeral.
