Olive Laverne Murphy, 74, of Lexington formerly of McConnelsville, died on Sat. Sept. 13, 2014 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born on Sept. 12, 1940 in Trimble to the late John M. and Mary B. Davis Kirkbride. She was a homemaker and a member of the Malta Bible Church in Malta. She is survived by 2 sons, Randy (Sandy) Murphy of Malta and Tom (Marci) Murphy of Malta, 1 daughter, Angela (Doug) Scott of Lexington, 1 brother, Ed Kirkbride of Malta, 8 grandchildren, Heath, Jennifer Murphy, Nicole Kimple, Bryan McDaniel, Beth Fink, Chelsea Murphy and Erin and Adam Scott, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Harold Lee Murphy, 1 brother, Don Kirkbride, 1 sister, Pauline Dusenberry, 3 half brothers, Fred, Dick and Paul Kirkbride and 4 half sisters, Alta Stallsmith, Hazel Kimble, Lucille Weber and Mary Casto. Services will be held on Weds. September, 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Malta Bible Church with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah cemetery near Bishopville. Friends may call on the family on Tues. September 16 from 4-8 P.M at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville and 1 hour prior to the services at the church on the day of the service. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ohio Health Med Central Hospice in Mansfield, Ohio.
