Oran W. Spencer, 86 of McConnelsville, died on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 2:19 P.M. at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 26, 1926 in Blue Rock, Ohio to the late Thomas W. and Elsie Miller Spencer. He retired from Taylor Woodcraft in Malta where he worked as a finisher. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church near Stockport and loved to work and tinker on cars in his garage. He is survived by three sons, Ronald (Lois) Spencer of Belpre, Larry (Jane) Spencer of McConnelsville and Roger (Connie) Spencer of Stockport, two daughters, Charlene (Larry) Zumbro of McConnelsville and Donna Work of McConnelsville, one brother, Robert Dwight Spencer of Zanesville, one sister, Charlotte Bennet of Baltimore, Ohio, sixteen grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marjorie Spencer, two brothers, Edgar and George Spencer and five sisters, Helen Crawford, Ethel McKibben, Frances Patterson, Jean Robinson and Janette Spencer. Services will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with Evang. Vernon Eldridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery near Stockport. Friends may call on the family on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
