Orville A. Goins, 101 of The Plains, died on Weds. March 4, 2015 at the Kimes Nursing Home in Athens. He was born on Feb. 18, 1914 in Wheeler, Michigan to the late Isaac and Cora Green Goins. His father Isaac died before he was born and he was raised by his step father Frank Fletcher. He was a U.S Mail Carrier and retired from Union Carbide Corporation in Marietta. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and attended the House of Prayer Church in Carbondale. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Shirley Tabler of Titusville, Fl. Sue Carnes of The Plains and Joyce (John) Wharton of Athens, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Margie "Dimples" Adams Goins, 2 sisters, Margie Croston and Donna Rickman, 1 granddaughter, Dawn Tabler and 1 great granddaughter, Maggie Tabler. Services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor Frank Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Friends may call on the family on Sunday, March 8 from 4-6 P.M. at the funeral home.
