Ralph Curtis Bingman, 93, formerly of McConnelsville, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at the Convalarium of Indian Run, Dublin, Ohio.

He was born June 10, 1921, to the late Curtis H. and Leora Harkins Bingman in Penn Township, Morgan County.

An outstanding basketball player, he graduated from Pennsville High School in 1939. He was a World War II Army veteran. Ralph was baptized December 14, 1941, and attended Dublin-Powell Church of Christ after being a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville for 69 years where he served as Deacon for 15 years and as Elder for 44 years. He was owner and manager of McConnelsville Tire Shop for over 40 years, a John Deer dealer, and an insurance agent for Motorists Mutual Insurance Company. He was a lifetime member of the Morgan County Historical Society; National Rifle Association; founder and served on the Morgan-Meigsville Water Board for many years; and was a 65-year member of the American Legion. He loved to play golf, bowling, and in his younger years, deer hunting.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 73 years, Rena Pearl Patterson Bingman, whom he married July 12, 1941; a daughter, Bonnie B. Ford, Dublin; two sons, Max (Joy) Bingman, Marysville and Mark (Kim) Bingman, Maumelle, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Bingman, Grove City and Cecil Bingman, Hillsboro, Missouri; sister-in-law, Evelyn Bingman, Hebron; and many nieces and nephews.

* In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Irene Coler, Juanita Patterson, Mildred Stalnaker, Eva Spencer, and Lilah Wingeier; and two brothers, Howard Bingman and Virgil Bingman.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Seventh Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with Evangelist Sam Bartrug and Evangelist Randy Baker officiating.

He will be laid to rest in Deerfield Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post No. 24 Color Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seventh Street Church of Christ or Alzheimer's Association.
