Obituary

Raymond Fredrick Fluharty, 64, of McConnelsville passed away suddenly at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 28, 2012 as a result of an accident near his home.

He was born May 7,1948 in Zanesville to the late Raymond Lewis Fluharty and Alice Scott Fluharty.

Fred was a 1966 graduate of the Malta-McConnelsville High School and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart. He was a retired boilermaker and a member of the Boilermaker Local No. 105. Fred was a life member of the DAV and was a member of the VFW Post 4713 of Malta.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patti Jean Cordray Fluharty; a daughter, Jennifer (Dave) Chochola of Tallmadge; a son, Chad (Theresa) Fluharty of Marysville; five grandchildren, Luke and Riley Chochola, and Haden, Hannah and Madison Fluharty; a sister, Kim Work of Duncan Falls; and six brothers, David Fluharty of Deavertown, Gregg Fluharty of Port Charlotte, FL, Gary Fluharty of McConnelsville, Randall Fluharty of Athens, Mark Fluharty of Lafferty, and Austin Fluharty of Malta.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie Alice Fluharty; and two sisters, Nancy Reeder and Sharon Gray.

Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, with Rev. Jennifer Johnston-Baker officiating.

Fred will be laid to rest in McConnelsville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Morgan County Veterans Group. Fred required little, but loved much.
