Obituary

Richard L. Bowman, age 88, of Chesterhill, Ohio, passed away at 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Emeritus Senior Living Center in Marietta. He was born on December 1, 1925, in Chesterhill, the son of the late Earl and Mable Edgerton Bowman. He was a graduate of Marion High School in Chesterhill and was a Veteran of WW11, serving in the US Marine Corps. He worked for Price Inland Terminal in Porterfield, Ohio as a Stevedore, was a member of the Chesterhill United Methodist Church, a Church Trustee, a volunteer at the Food Pantry in Malta, Ohio and a member of several Bowling Leagues in McConnelsville. Dick is survived by 1 son: Bruce Bowman and wife Midge of Waterford; 2 daughters: Christy Nicholas and friend Tony Lang of Marietta, and Pam Lockwood and husband Ed of Grove City, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 brother: Paul Gene Bowman and wife Madolyn of McConnelsville, 1 sister: Carolyn Craig of Frazeysburg, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death, other than his parents, were his wife Jane Carter Bowman, 2 sons: Cary and Ed: 1 brother, Fred, and 1 sister, Martha Dugan. Services will be held at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Phillip Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Chesterhill Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Military service will be held at the grave.
