Richard J. Ebersole, 76, of McConnelsville, died on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 1:30P.M. at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born on September 5, 1936 in Eldorado, Ohio to the late Russell and Erma Braiser Ebersole. He was an accountant and Office Manager for Malta Manufacturing in McConnelsville and retired from WHIZ AM, FM, TV in Zanesville. He served his country in the US Navy, enjoyed being a Boy Scout and Boy Scout Leader of Troupe 288 in Malta and was a member of the Muskingum Valley Boy Scout District Council. He is survived by his wife, Emily Watts Ebersole of the home, 1 son Rick (Mary Ann) Ebersole of Zanesville, 1 daughter, Ronda (Mike) McCormick of McConnelsville, 1 brother, Homer (Patti) Ebersole of Eldorado, 1 sister, Barbara Klinger or West Alexander and 2 grandsons, Matthew and Dylan Downs both of McConnelsville. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Jack and James Ebersole and 1 sister, Sara Jane Longnecker. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with pastor Galen Finley officiating. Burial will follow in the McConnelsville Cemetery. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 5-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boy Scout Troupe 288 in Malta or to the Kate Love Simpson Library in McConnelsville.
