Richard H. Fortney 76, of Pleasantville, formerly of Malta, passed away May 9, 2014 in Pleasantville. He was born June 8, 1937 in Perry County, Ohio the son of the late Robert Fortney and Ruby Heller Fortney. He was a retired Deputy Sheriff for the Morgan Conty Sheriffs Office serving 26 years. He was a member of the Buckeye Sheriffs Association and a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.He is survived by sisters Barbara Franko and Kathleen Hartman both of Nebraska; Lenora Derringer of Blue Rock, Ohio;brothers Robert Fortney of Zanesville and Jerry Eugene Fortney of St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Betty Swartz and a brother Harry Fortney. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Zion Cemetery in Portersville.
