Richard A. Hackney, 73, of McConnelsville, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at his residence.  He was born on May 17, 1948 in Wilmington, Ohio to the late George E. and Lola M. Hammer Hackney.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW Post #4713 in Malta.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.  He is survived by his significant other of 23 years, Brett Marshall of the Home, a son Matt (Susan) Hackney of Ashville, a niece, Kim (Don) Wallace of Lebanon and 3 grandchildren, Nick, Kaitlin and Michael Hackney.  He is preceded in death by his parents.  Services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with burial with military services at the Meigsville Cemetery.  Friends may call on the family 1 hour prior to the services.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
