Obituary

WESTMINSTER, CO: Rick Shook, 49, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away on November 20, following a brief battle with cancer. Rick was born July 12, 1961 in Chesterhill, Ohio and attended Marion Elementary School. He entered the T&I Electronics program while attending Morgan High School and, after graduating in 1979, continued his studies in the Navy. During his 10-year Navy career Rick made a name for himself in communication systems and spent the last few years of his service as an instructor at Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago. After leaving the Navy, Rick resided in Columbus for a few years before moving to Chico, California. While in California he was recruited by his current employer, Level Three Communications, and moved to Colorado where he resided until his death. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny Shook and Peggy Duncan Allen. He is survived by two sisters, Lorrie (Troy) Seago of Kotzebue, Alaska, and Teri (John) McElroy of Cincinnati, OH; and one brother, Kevin Shook of Lancaster, OH; Rick is also survived by six nieces, Jessica (Stephen) Seifert, Brianne Dailey, Chelsea McElroy, Jody Shook, Josie Shook and Kaitlen Shook; and two nephews, Anthony (Ashlee) Dailey and Jonathon McElroy; and three great nephews, Kaidin Shook, Brennan Seifer, and Easton Dailey; also surviving are two aunts, Katie (Larry) Ratliff, and Wreatha (Roger) Clester; and one uncle, Gary (Sue) Shook; as well as a host of cousins. Rick was loved and adored by his family, and will be sorely missed by all. Friends may call at Stone-Matheny Funeral Home in Chesterhill on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 29 with Charles Simmons officiating.
