Obituary

Robert Carl "RC" Lauer, 68, of Stockport, passed away on December 8th, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born September 4th, 1957, he was the son of the late Wayne and Phyllis Lauer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter, Kelsey. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Teresa; his daughters, Whitney (Bob) Blackburn and Ashley (Kris) Jones; his grandchildren, Clayton, Jordan, Harper, and Belle; his sisters, Cindy (Gene) Campbell, Cheri (Bill) McKown, and Chila Jones; his brother-in-law, Steve Schofield; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. RC retired from Globe Metallurgical, but his true passion was coaching. While basketball was a longtime favorite, he also coached softball and baseball and supported any sport that provided children a place to grow and belong. His booming voice carried through gyms and ball fields, while his quiet, humble spirit guided everything he did. Known for his integrity, he was tough but fair, expecting effort and respect while making sure every child felt included. He especially loved watching his grandkids run and compete, both as a coach and as a spectator. More than anything, he loved being Pap Pap. Nothing made him happier than simply being with them. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and hiking. Traveling out West with his wife was one of his greatest pleasures. Together they hiked mountains, delighted in spotting wildlife, and spent countless hours patiently sitting waiting for animals to appear. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful Christian, loyal friend, and coach whose influence reached far beyond any court or field. His presence will be deeply missed, but the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the example he set will live on in every life he touched. A man of strong Christian faith, RC loved God deeply and lived out his faith each day through kindness, encouragement, and generosity. Visitation will be held on Sat. Dec. 13, 2025 from 10-1 P.M. at Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville, with services following at 1:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morgan Athletic Boosters to the Athletic Assistance Fund to continue his lifelong mission of supporting kids.
