Obituary

Roger Allen Taylor, 69, of 4221 S. Lick Run Rd., Stockport, died suddenly at 10:11 a.m. Monday May 9, 2011 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta.

He was born July 21,1941 in Morgan County, a son of Allen "Doc" and Dessie Roberts Taylor.

He was retired from Globe Metallurgical of Beverly after 29 years. Roger was an Army Veteran and was a member of the NRA, the American Quarterhorse Association, Windsor Senior Citizens, and American Legion Post No. 24 of McConnelsville.

He also attended the Oakland United Methodist Church and was a past 4-H advisor and participated in the 4-H Horse Riding Therapy Program.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris Brandeberry Taylor; his mother, Dessie Roberts Taylor of McConnelsville; two sons, Trevor (Theresa) Taylor of Stockport and Trent (Nicole) Taylor of Columbus; two grandchildren, Troy and Trishelle Taylor, both of Stockport; a brother, Rodney (Bea) Taylor of Barlow; and a sister, Iris (Bill) Roe of McConnelsville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen "Doc" Taylor.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 11, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, with Pastor Richard Purvis officiating.

The burial will be in Stockport Cemetery with military honors by the Morgan County Veterans group.
