Obituary

Ronnie S. Bankes, 64, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2017. He was born March 6, 1953, in Columbus and was adopted at the age of 3 weeks by Ronald and Freda (Almendinger) Bankes. Later in life Ronnie found he had a biological brother and from there a family bond was formed that he was very proud of and blessed to be loved by his two families. Ronnie was a 1971 graduate of Morgan High School and became a contractor, followed by working at Crooksville Coal and then was employed by Morgan County Highway Department serving in the capacities of road and bridge foreman and Superindent until his retirement. He was a member of the M&M Fire Department for 21 years, Masonic Lodge #111, Malta Methodist Church, American Legion, F.O.E. and the Moose Lodge. He was a former member of Ohio Army National Guard, M&M Jaycees, the Rube Band and Morgan County Shrine Club. After retiring Ronnie enjoyed woodworking, home projects, and offering advice on how to fix or build anything. He mostly loved the gatherings in his garage for the Buckeye games and will missed by his "Buckeye Garage Buddies" and cat Jeepers. Ronnie is survived by his 8th grade sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Rita L. (Perkins) Bankes and the light of his life daughter Angie A. Bankes. He also leaves behind special family members, Mother-In-Law Edna L. Perkins, Shane E. Riffle and granddogs Zoie & Layla; half-sisters Deanna Mecurio and Debbie Shaeffer, half-brother Jeff Dunkle. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Freda Bankes, his father Frank Dunkle, and father-in law Robert E. Perkins. Also by his side in Heaven is half-brother "Buckeye Bill" and his first granddog B-Dog. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 3-7pm at Matheney Funeral Home McConnelsville with Masonic Services at 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
