Rosalia Poling Downs, 93 of 541 East Bell Ave. McConnelsville, formerly of Dresden, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 7:35 p.m. at her home in McConnelsville.

She was born October 14, 1916 in Newark to the late Carl Ogle and Jessie Poling Ogle. Rosalia worked as a floral designer and was an avid artist, enjoying oils, water colors and growing herbs. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of McConnelsville and was a former church deacon. Rosalia had just received her 70 year Eastern Star pin and was a member of the Dresden Chapter #260 O.E.S. and Olive Branch Chapter # 251 O.E.S. She had been a member of the New Era Club, Morgan County Art Guild, Morgan County Historical Society, and the Morgan County Herb Study Group. She had made many dear friends over her past years.

She is survived by a son, Daniel (Karol) Downs of McConnelsville; a deceased son's wife, Rosemary (Dean) Henry of Waterford; two grandchildren, Timothy (Sarah) Downs of McConnelsville, Tamatha (Ronnie) McBride of Marietta; five great grandchildren, Matthew, Dylan, and Elizabeth Downs and Courtney and Dava Clark; four sisters, Dee (Jim) Touvell, Patty Prince, Donnie Andrews, and Alice Pound; one brother, Nile (Charlotte) Ogle.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, George Louis Downs; a son, David Lynn Downs; and a sister, Rena Norton.

Calling hours will be Friday, April 23, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville and from 12:00- 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Barbara Morrison officiating with the burial in McConnelsville Cemetery.
