Ruth E. Chappelear, 90, of McConnelsville, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Riverside Landing Nursing and Rehab Center in McConnelsville.

She was born July 12, 1923, in Joy, to the late Warren Miller and Dessie Duncan Miller.

Mrs. Chappelear had worked at the Ohio State Bank in Columbus and was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville. She was also a member of the VFW Post No. 4713 Auxiliary of Malta and wrote the Bloom Twp Locals for the Morgan County Herald.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Hoffer of Crooksville and Roberta Woods of Coshocton; 11 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chappelear; and a daughter, Rosemary Slaga.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17 at Main Street Church of Christ with Evangelist Vernon Eldridge officiating.

At Ruth's request, after the services, a caring cremation will take place and her ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband in Iliff Cemetery in McCluney.

Ruth was a beloved member of her community. Her family and friends will miss her smile. Ruth will be greatly missed.
