Obituary

Ruth Ann Clapper 89, of Zanesville passed away on June 27, 2017 under the care of hospice and surrounded by her family. Ruth Ann was  born Oct. 25, 1927, raised in Malta and graduated from M&M High School in 1946. Ruth Ann was a beautiful, caring woman inside and out and a loving mother to her three children, Greg (Lori) Clapper, of Newark, Jane (Gene) Dickinson of Nashport and Chris (Cheryl) Clapper of Newark. Her grandchildren are Charles E. Carr Jr. and special friend Ashley Wren of New Albany, Jared (Stefani) Carr of Kentucky, Sarah (Avery) Pinson, of Georgia, Amy (Josh) Hurley of North Carolina and Kelly Clapper of Newark. Her great grandchildren include Quinton, Nevaeh, Mariusz, Kavon and Shenoah Carr of Kentucky and Brady Pinson of Georgia. In addition, she is survived by two sisters Marjorie Hammond of Florida and Francis Williams of Malta and one sister in law Patty Smith of Florida. There are also several nieces and nephews. Ruth Ann was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in McConnelsville. Upon retiring from the Morgan County Welfare Department she relocated to Zanesville. She became a member of the Coburn Methodist Church, was a past officer of the Valley Chapter #19 Order of Eastern Star and a volunteer at Genesis Hospital for 10 years. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed trips to watch her grandchildrens games and events.Preceding her in death were her parents Lee and Ota (Lynn) Smith, her husband Robert G. Clapper, two brothers Bob and Don Smith, and brothers in law John Hammond and Don Rex Williams. The family wishes to thank the staff and administration from Clay Gardens, Cedar Hill and Genesis Hospice for their devotion and care to their mother. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdayand on hour prior to services on Friday at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, services will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. Eastern star services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest by her husband in McConnelsville Cemetery.
