Sara Lou Jobes Atkinson passed away at her home in Marietta, Ohio, where her husband, John Atkinson lovingly took care of her. She had a long struggle with Altzheimers. She was born on November 21, 1937 to Marie Matthews Jobes and Alonzo B. Jobes in Roxberry, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frankie Jobes and Mervin Jobes, three sisters, Bernice Mattis, Bonnie Eish and Fannie Woodford. She is survived by her husband John Atkinson, two daughters, Debbie Secoy Clark (Allen), and Saundra Secoy West (Grant), five grandchildren, Calandra Clark Cook, Jason West, Courtney Clark, Tristen Clark Keller, and Hanna West, and seven great grandchildren. In addition, she had six step-children, David Atkinson (Olivia), Lizbeth Atkinson (William Willis III), Joanna Atkinson, Carrie Yianne (Timothy), Patrick Atkinson (Nichelle) and Alissa Blazer (Timothy) and nine step-grandchildren, Tobias, Audrey, and Susannah Atkinson, Kariem Hassan, Cate Yianne, Florence, Ulysses, Ulrich, and Uriah Atkinson. She is also survived by two brothers, Cy Jobes of Titusville, Florida and Lee Jobes (Gloria) of Pataskala, OH, and one sister, Dolly Stokley of Westerville and several nieces and nephews. Sara was formerly married to Gordon D. Secoy (deceased) and Denny Arnold of Victoria, Texas. She graduated from Bartlett High School and worked the majority of her career in the Selective Service Office and the Social Security Administration. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and worshipped with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years, Sara was an avid bridge player and loved to crochet. She enjoyed giving away afghans and her lace crocheted handkerchiefs. Viewing will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1503 Glendale, Rd, Marietta, OH 45750 on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 from 4-7 P.M. and the funeral will be held at the same location on Tues.
