Obituary

Shirley Mae (Nichols) Norman, 84, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026. She was born on April 17, 1941, in Athens County, Ohio. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was married to her husband, William K. Norman for 50 years and dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. She worked as a homemaker and babysitter, helping raise and care for many children over the years, always offering kindness, patience, and love. Shirley enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking for her family. She loved birds, her pets, and spending time thrift shopping. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her love for her family, and the warmth she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her. She was loved by many, including her children, Kimberly (Robert) Caldwell, Beverly (Jeffery) Singleton, Kelly Norman, Paul (Maria) Mayle (Maria, deceased), Gary Norman, and Randa Lampley; sisters, Malinda Lucas and Gloria Ann Pires; her grandchildren, Joshua Caldwell (deceased), Nicole Russell, Champagne Harris, Keisha Norman, Samantha Newland, Jericah (Brandon) Harney, Lydell Norman, Jeffery Singleton Jr., Wesley Mayle, Marcus Mayle, Andre Norman, Dream Freeborn, Sabrina Pettit, Tyrese Mayle, Taysha Mayle, Tyanna Mayle, and Jordan Lampley; as well as many great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Buddy, Leroy, Clifford, Butch, and Gene; and sisters, Carol and Saundra. Funeral service will be Thurs., Mar. 26, 2026 at 12:00 Noon at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor David Jarvis officiating; burial to follow at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
