Sophie Catherine King, 85 of McConnelsville, went to be with the lord on June 23, 2012. She was born on April 6, 1927 in Flower, West Virginia to the late John and Glendora Starcher Davis. Sophie married William A. King on March 8, 1941. She was a wonderful mother of five children, John G. (Marcia) King of Columbus, Eliza (Doyle) DuRall of Cookeville, TN, William J. (Taina) King of Bartlett, Betty J. (Chuck) White of McConnelsville, and Peggy A. (William) Rayburn of Malta. She is also survived by two sisters, Justine Morris of Charleston, West Virginia and Hattie Keener of Millersburg, eight grandchildren, Misty King, Jason King, Cathy (Brandon) Mayle, Beth White, Billy (Alia) White, Mary Rayburn, Nikki Rayburn and Terri Rayburn, eleven great grandchildren, Taylor and Alexis O'Brien , Kirsten Williams, Michael and Jacob Tope, Nicole Wells, Max Wells, Kyra ,Brandon, Natasha and Nevaeh Mayle. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Roy Davis and one granddaughter, Penny Jo Tope. Sophie was beloved by her family and will be greatly missed. Service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 2:30 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville. Burial will follow at the East Lawn Memorial Park in Marietta. Friends may call on the family from 1-2:30 P.M. on the day of the funeral.
