Susie Powell, of McConnelsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sun, Jan. 28, 2024.  She was born on Aug. 22, 1947 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Ralph Thomas and Eloise Huffman.  She was a homemaker and a baby sitter for most of McConnelsville.  She loved working with kids and being with her family.  She was known as Memaw to all of the grandchildren.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was very active in The Morgan High School Booster's Club.  She is survived by her sons, Artie (Flo) Powell Jr. of McConnelsville and Tim (Heather) Powell of Newark, a brother, Mike Thomas of Crooksville, 3 sisters, Vickey Henning of Crooksville, Sherri Simms of Zanesville and Dale Ann Strohl of New Lexington, 7 grandchildren, Jonny, Laci, Skylar, Sydney, Mia, Isabella and Abigial and 5 great grandchildren, Zane, Greyson, Bowen, Blair and Indie.  She is preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Kay Thomas, step-father, William Parsons and her husband Artie Powell Sr.  Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville is handling a caring cremation at her request.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
