Sylvia R. Dawson, 81, of McConnelsville, passed away on Weds, March 2, 2022 at the Highland Oaks Nursing Home in McConnelsville. She was born on Aug. 10, 1940 in Lost Creek W.Va. to the late Thomas and Thelma Wisehart Powell.  Her family migrated to Zanesville where she graduated from Zanesville High School in 1958.  She was a member of the McConnelsville Congregation of Jehovah Witness's and owned and operated the Sew & Sew Fabric Shop in McConnelsville for over 18 years.   She is survived by her husband of 61 years Glenn Dawson whom she married on Aug. 3, 1960.  A son-in-law, Kevin Edmonson of Zanesville, 5 grandchildren and 13 Great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters, Julie Edmonson and Lori McCoy, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.  A graveside service will be held on Sat, March 5, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. at the Pennsville Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Fri, March 4 from 5-8 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville.  To send a note of condolence to the family go to www.matheneyfh.com.
