Tommy J. Ross 81, of McConnelsville passed away at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville. He was born to the late Dow and Ethel Kille Ross on September 12, 1930 on the family farm. He lived and farmed there his whole life except for the time served with the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by a sister, Jessie (Melvin) Hickerson of Malta, and a brother, Keith Ross of Erie ,Pa and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Gail and Allen and a nephew Keithie Ross.Nothing made him any happier than climbing on the tractor and heading toward the hay field, except catching a ball game on tv or the radio. Often you could catch him watching a fuzzy tv and having an ear stuck to the radio at the same time.He dearly loved all the Ohio teams and followed the local high school games with great interest.Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where services will be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Sandford Short officiating. Burial with military rites by the Morgan County Veterans will be in Malta Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Morgan County Veterans Group.
