Obituary

Vance "Speed" Brill Ormiston, 87, of Stockport passed away Thursday, October 13,2011 at 5:05 p.m. at the Riverside Country Care Center in McConnelsville. He was born April 15,1924 in Vincent, a son of the late Rolin and Majel Brill Ormiston.

After the death of his mother in 1926 he was raised by his grandparents, the late George and Minnie Zumbro Brill of Stockport. A 1942 graduate of Windsor High School he was a S/Sgt. in the U. S. Air Force. He served with the 15th Air Force in Italy as a flight engineer on a B-24 bomber in W.W. II. Vance retired after 34 years as a precision instrument repairman at Clevite Corp. He was a member of the Stockport Church Of Christ and attended Dale United Methodist Church. He was also a Life member of the D.A.V.

He is survived by his second wife, Marguerite Zumbro Green; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela (Don) Downuw and Regina and (Dan) Sharp; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Bruce (Yvonne) Ormiston; a step son, Richard Green; three step granddaughters; five step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and grandparents he was preceeded in death by his first wife, Cleo (McKibben) Ormiston in 1988; a brother, Harold Ormiston, a granddaughter, a great granddaughter, and stepmother, Hattie Nutter Ormiston.

Calling hours will be Sunday October 16,2011 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where funeral services will be held Monday October 17,2011 at 1:00 p.m. The burial will be in Stockport Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Morgan County Veteran's Group.
