Vera Mae Campbell, 99, of McConnelsville passed away at 1:52 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville.

She was born May 25, 1916 in McConnelsville to the late Everett Miller and Clara Price Miller. In her earlier years, she sang on WHIZ Radio in Zanesville for a half hour every week. People would send in requests for birthdays and anniversaries. Vera was known as "The Lady in Pink" and always had flowers in her hair. She will be remembered by many. Vera worked for Coulson's Clothing Store and Stifflers in McConnelsville. She was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, was active in the U.M.W. and sang in the church choir. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the M. & M. Band Boosters and was a chaperone with her daughter Roberta when the M. & M. Band played in the Orange Bowl parade in Miami, Fl. She was also a member of the Morgan County Senior Citizens and sang with the choir at the Ohio State Fair. She was known for her singing. Last year at Highland Oaks she won first place in a talent contest singing In the Garden and Let Me Call You Sweetheart. In May she celebrated her 99th birthday with 32 family members present.

Vera is survived by two daughters, Judy Bragg, of McConnelsville and Boberta Uebelhauser, of Franklin, N.C; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sanford Reams; her second husband, Robert Campbell; and a brother, Robert Miller.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Galen Finley and Walter Jones officiating. She will be laid to rest in McConnelsville Cemetery.
