Verl Addison Rowland, 94, of Fleming, Ohio passed away at Marietta Memorial Hospital on June 6, 2017. He was born Dec. 10, 1922 in Bartlett to the late Addison B. and Mary Ellen (Mae) Hollingsworth Rowland. Verl was a 1941 graduate of Bartlett High School. He married Alfreda Jeanette Smith on June 5, 1960. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked 30 years as an accountant for Dravo Corporation in Marietta and 15 years as a bus driver for Warren Local Schools. He was a member of Bartlett Bible Baptist Church and Bartlett/Waterford Grange. Verl loved working on the farm and going to Warren High School ball games. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend to many, and will be greatly missed by all. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Kathryn Cowen and Norma Wingfield. Surviving is his wife, Alfreda, two sons, Timothy Verl of Fleming, Kevin Smith (Lisa) of Bellaire, 6 grandchildren, Addison (Taylor) Rowland, Amanda (Wes) Gilliland, Nikki (Tyler) Hearn, Benjamin (Ruth) Rowland all of Bartlett, Rachel Rowland of Bellaire and her fiancé Daniel Fenske of Minnesota, and Rebekah Rowland of Port Clinton, Ohio, 10 great grandchildren, Bristol and Morgan Rowland, John, Becca, Colten and Grant Gilliland, Alaina, Riley, Titus and unborn baby Hearn and Marshall Rowland and many nieces and nephews. Per Verl's request there will be no funeral services. Burial will be in the Bartlett Cemetery at the family's convenience. Memorial contributions can be made to the Barlow Fire Dept. P.O. Box 121 Barlow, Ohio 45712. Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill is handling the arrangements.
