Verneta Work, 82 of Dale, died on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 1:40 P.M. at the Muskingum Valley Nursing Home in Beverly. She was born on September 22, 1929 in Somerset to the late Miles Lewis and Bertha M. Longfellow Hoge. She was a homemaker and an LPN at the Fairview Manor Nursing Home in Beverly. She was a member of the Porterfield Baptist Church in Porterfield, and attended the Oak Hill Methodist Church near Dale, OES #59 of Marietta, and the Oak Hill Ladies Aide. She is survived by one son, Larry Lee Work of Whipple, one Daughter, Linda Gaston Vandine of Stockport, four grandchildren, Vicki Holland, Brian Gaston, Adam Work and Shawn Work, six great grandchildren, Trevor and Tiffany Holland, Josie Gaston, Alannah and Graeden Work, and Colten Work. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry Lee Work and three brothers, Bernard, Carl and Dean Hoge. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill with Pastor Gene Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 4-8 P.M. with OES services following at 8 P.M.
