Virginia Grant Gorby, 90, of McConnelsville, went to be with the Lord after battling Alzheimer's on Sat. Feb. 28, 2015 at the Highland Oaks Nursing Center in McConnelsville. She was born on July 27, 1924 in Roseville, Ohio to the late William and Jennie Clayton Grant. She graduated from Chandlersville High School in 1942 and attended Compton Jr. College in California. She and her husband owned and operated, Gorby Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Service for 40 years in McConnelsville. She then worked and retired from the Hallmark store in McConnelsville in 1987 after 11 years. She belonged to the Muskingum Chapter of Eastern Star #485 and was a charter member of the Church of The Full Gospel Ministry in McConnelsville. She always remembered to send out special cards to all of her family and friends. She is survived by one Son, Clark G. (Christina) Gorby of McConnelsville, two daughters, Carol J. Westfall of Zanesville and Jean M. (Roger) Dingey of Columbus, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband of 43 years, Gregg C. Gorby, three sisters, Edna Sisk, Hilda Colopy and Mary Herron and five brothers, Roy, Dewey, Donald, Ceril and Klemm Grant. Services will be held on Weds. March 4, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. Burial will follow in the McConnelsville Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11-1 P.M. on the day of the funeral.
