Wanda Faye Tate, 83, of Canal Winchester, passed away Dec. 15, 2025, at her residence. She was born Nov. 23, 1942, to the late William C. Smith and Jessie Hill Smith in Chesterhill, OH.  She was a member of the New Faith Church in Canal Winchester. She is survived by a son, James Brian Tate of Canal Winchester; a daughter, Shelley Renee Lyles of Canal Winchester; a brother, Randy Smith of Little Hocking; 2 sisters, Donna Hale of Columbus and Karen Norman of Zanesville; 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James L. Tate; 5 brothers, Gayle, Argyle, Paul, Roger, and Bob Smith; 2 sisters, Vivian Thompson and Louise Ramsey. Funeral service will be held Sat. Dec. 20, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill; burial following at Friends Quaker Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11-1 P.M. on the day of the funeral.
